I wanted this pump for my rain barrel. Sure, I could just drain the barrel using a gravity feed spigot, but where's the fun in that? I've always been a "I can make that better" kind of guy. I'll be honest, this pump may be overkill for this application, but holy man does it ever work well! The first thing I noticed when I took it out of the box was the weight. It's heavy. Solid feeling. It comes with threaded adaptors for a half inch garden hose. I happened to have an old hose at home that I cut up. I bought a couple of stainless steel hose clamps and I fashioned some garden hose adaptors. The pump seems weatherproof, but I put it in a box under my deck and plugged it into a GCFI outlet. You can leave it turned on if you like. It will only run when you squeeze the nozzle on the hose. Man does this thing generate pressure! They claim 50 psi. I have no way of verifying that claim but it feels like more to me. A word of caution; If you are using it for a rain barrel watering system, it is very easy to empty the rain barrel quickly at 5.5 gallons per minute. Use sparingly. I am really happy with this pump. The easily removable filter screen is simple to clean. The pump runs cool and quiet with very little vibration. If you're looking for a decent, reasonably priced pressure pump this will do what you need it to do.
