This is a solid shoe cabinet that holds 4 to 5 pairs per drawer depending on the shoe size. Overall, I am very happy with it - it's sturdy, it looks good, holds a lot of shoes, and fits our space well.
A few things to note:
• Step 6 of the assembly instructions shows the piece installed one way when in fact, it should be installed the opposite way. Although we questioned it at the time, we thought the instructions in the book would be more accurate than our hunch. Unfortunately, we were wrong and didn't confirm the error until we went to install the drawers and they didn't sit properly. Had to take everything apart and re-build.
• It took us about 6 hours to assemble the cabinet and then another 1.5 to take it apart and reassemble when we realized the drawers weren't sitting properly. There are a LOT of pieces involved.
• Once you've assembled and installed the drawers, there is no easy way to remove the divider that would allow you to put in low cut boots or shoes that go over the ankles.
• Shoes in the top row of each drawer need to be turned upside down and jiggled a bit so the drawer can close properly. This is not an issue for us but if your shoes are larger than a men's size 10, that top row may be useless to you. I recommend you don't install the divider but then you may only get 2 pairs per drawer.
• I read reviews of other cabinets that said they became tipsy when the top drawers are full. That is not an issue with this cabinet. It's sturdy for us even though we did not anchor it to the wall.
Overall, my experience with Garvee was very good. I felt the price was reasonable, the online description and measurements were accurate (even though step 6 of the instructions wasn't), it was shipped and delivered on time, and the quality of the pieces was maybe a little better than expected. I did not need to contact the company or deal with customer service. Would recommend.
