Great product I would buy again! Much better with 2 people install,not that I couldn’t do it by Myself but would have been a challenge. TIP make sure it is straight and square!

Product easy to assemble, looks great and serves its purpose.

The same day we sent an email to the Garvee support team about the problem we had using our drill to raise a roughly 200‑pound load on our lift, we received their reply, which read:
“…based on our testing and installation guidance, we recommend using the maximum torque setting on the drill and low speed (Gear 1) when operating… This helps provide better control, reduces the risk of bit slippage or breakage, and ensures stable performance, especially when the system is under load (around 200 lbs as mentioned). Using steady pressure and allowing the drill bit to do the work can also improve the overall experience.”
We just tested that advice and had no issues with the drill stopping or overheating. It raised smoothly and easily. With responsive support like this (especially for those of us who had never used a drill this way), we are happy to change our review from four to five stars and strongly recommend this product.

Our garage has a 12‑foot ceiling. This allows for a lot of storage, but we're getting to the age we'd rather not climb ladders that high. This Garvee overhead ceiling storage lift is exceptionally well made and installation options allowed us to place it at the ideal ceiling location (we did hire a pro to install it).
The only minor downside came after we added Christmas bins and other items to our original lighter load. The lift can hold 350 pounds and our new total was just under 200 pounds (yes, we weighed each item just to know the load size, and also tried to balance the weight across the lift). That downside (besides still needing to stand just a couple of steps up on a ladder due to the 12‑foot ceiling) was with our drill, which is how the lift is raised and lowered.
The lift comes with a 46‑inch long rod that turns the gearbox manually when connected to a cordless drill. The (very) old drill we had said “nope,” so we bought a new 18V ½‑in. drill/driver. It is powerful enough, but it stopped every 10 or 15 seconds to cool a bit. We eventually got the lift as high as we wanted and the drill seems none the worse for wear.

So, a great product, but you'll need a good drill and some patience to raise a heavier load (lowering goes much faster, of course, courtesy of gravity). Deducting one star for our raising issues. We'll be contacting the company for advice, though, and will amend this review if there's an easy fix. We're hoping it's just a matter of getting the right settings on our drill.

Unboxed it, mounted the brackets into the ceiling joists, and had my entire garage decluttered by Sunday afternoon. Heavy duty steel, super solid drop brackets, and holds tons of weight!

Unboxed, measured ceiling joists, installed the hanging brackets, and got six large storage totes completely off the concrete floor. Exceptional weight rating and clean finish!

Lag bolts that came with the package were thick and bit deep into the wooden rafters. Very reassuring stability.

Kept all our Halloween and Christmas boxes organized high up. Easy to reach with a standard step stool.

Reclaimed a ton of space over the garage door. Dropped one star because the included mounting lag bolts required a socket extension that made drilling tight near the ceiling, but once in, it's super sturdy.

You get a lot of solid steel framing for the money. Powder coat finish is thick and hardware is heavy-duty.

Loaded up my heavy camping tents and folding tables. Steel mesh panels don't bow down under pressure at all.
